Oedema therapy
Edema therapy is a treatment for edema (abnormal accumulation of tissue fluid) in the lymphatic system. This fluid accumulation usually results in reduced mobility, often causing pain, and can potentially lead to inflammation.
When a more significant trauma has occurred, such as surgery, lymph nodes or vessels are damaged, and the fluid must find another way out. This path is stimulated by edema therapy.
Oedema therapy consists of education, manual lymphatic drainage, exercise therapy and the use of aids such as elastic stockings, lymphatic taping and bandaging.
Monique Muller and Marloes Kingma treat patients referred for Oedema Therapy.
A referral from a physician is required for reimbursement from basic insurance from the 21st treatment onwards.
